Sorry for getting a bit behind in sharing this – been super busy (but having fun!) Anyway, there aren’t too many national pet holidays that I found but there are a few to follow. After that starts the local fun!!

•July 1, 2019: ID Your Pet Day.
•July 4, 2019: Independence Day. This US holiday is no holiday for dogs; the sounds of fireworks causes many dogs to panic and run, resulting in many lost dogs every year. Please keep your pets safe (and consider the neighbor pets too!)
•July 5, 2019: Pet Remembrance Day.
•July 11, 2019: All-American Pet Photo Day. (feel free to post some pictures of YOUR pets on our blog!!)
•July 15, 2019: National Pet Fire Safety Day. Sponsored by the The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), ADT Security Services and the American Kennel Club® (AKC).
•July 21, 2019: National Craft for your Local Shelters Day.

OUR NEW RESCHEDULED DATE We are hosting our fundraiser at the beautiful Festival park in Hobart. This day will include vendors, a bake sale, raffle baskets, kids games, live music and food. There will also be plenty of dogs for you to interact with and learn what they do. So Come out to help us continue our mission in providing service dogs to kids in need. Also your well behaved dogs are definitely welcome to come to this event! See you there!

Good Puppy Training Class

Join Andrea from AK Dog Training for this 4 week class geared toward puppies ages 10-16 weeks and their human families. Class meets on Tuesdays, July 16, 23, 30 and Aug. 6 with from 7-7:50pm (with August 13 being a rain date if necessary). Students must be able to attend all 4 classes. Put your puppies best paw forward with this 4 week puppy training class. This class will teach critical socialization skills as well as safety cues such as “leave it”, “Stay” and “Come”. Loose leash walking will be featured. Students will need to pre-pay online. Please bring to class: Proof of current vaccinations (age appropriate for your puppy). Flat collar or harness. 6 foot leather or nylon leash (no retractable). High value treats (chicken, cheese, etc). Puppy’s favorite toy. Mat/Rug/Dog bed. If your cat is not current, it will receive a 1 year Rabies vaccine for an additional charge of $15. Feral and Community Cats are only $40, which includes spay/neuter, pain shot, ear tip, and rabies vaccination. You must pre-register and pre-pay at least four days prior to transport date, but spots fill up quickly! Please call the shelter at 219-942-0103 or come in during our regular business hours to reserve your spot!
