One of their most popular programs! Come meet their farm animals and their caregivers on the first Saturday and second Friday of the month. Their animals include horses, sheep, goats, ducks, chickens, turkeys, and bunnies. Learn about each species while taking the opportunity to feed, pet, and groom them. No registration is required for this free program. Meet by the animal barn. If we’ve had recent rain or melted snow, there might be mud, so wear some boots or play shoes! Also remember that their Family Hike program takes place right after Meet the Animals each month, so check out their Facebook events.

Public Goat Walks (this one sounds different, lol!)

Join the goats on their daily walk and see first hand what it’s like to leash them and take them out on the trails. Public goat walks will be every Wednesday at 5 pm and Saturdays at 10 am starting May 1st. Meet at the goat shed and be prepared for some fun. The goats do not like the rain so if it’s raining, plan on the walks to be cancelled.

Join the education staff and team of wildlife ambassador animals as they delve into the amazing powers of their wild animals. Dogs 16 weeks and older are invited to attend this 4 week dog training class that focuses on manners and listening skills. Safety cues such as “leave it”, “stay”, and “come” will be taught in addition to heeling. Class begins Thursday June 6, 2019 and meets from 6:00 to 6:50pm. Registration is $80 and is for 4 weeks. Put your puppy’s best paw forward with this 4 week puppy training class. Open to puppies 10-16 weeks this class teaches critical socialization skills as well as safety cues such as “leave it”, “stay”, and “come”. Loose leash walking will be featured. This class is open to puppies 10-16 weeks and their families. Class is $80 and participants will receive email information regarding some of the supplies needed (treats, leash, etc). Begins Thursday June 6, 2019 and meets from 7:00 to 7:50pm for 4 weeks. Proof of current vaccinations is required. Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Transport for CATS

Due to demand, they are adding a second transport in May!!! Come get your cat fixed for only $65! Proof of Rabies vaccination is required (the actual certificate, NOT the tag). If your cat is not current, it will receive a 1 year Rabies vaccine for an additional charge of $15. Feral and Community Cats are only $40, which includes spay/neuter, pain shot, ear tip, and rabies vaccination. You must pre-register and pre-pay at least four days prior to transport date, but spots fill up quickly! Please call the shelter at 219-942-0103 or come in during their regular business hours to reserve your spot!

Pets N Vets Fundraiser & Outdoor Bike Show at The Back Court Bar

Pets N Vets Fundraiser & Outdoor Bike Show raising money to help train service dogs for our veterans with PTSD. All proceeds go directly to Pets N Vets to help train the animals. There will be free hot-dogs and burgers; bike show with trophies for best in show. Beer truck outside with drink specials inside. Pets N Vet will have 10-20 dogs on site with their veterans and some will be doing tricks! There will be 50/50 Basket Raffles with lots of raffle baskets to bid on. Will provide a list later.
