Chesterton Feed & Garden Center is having its annual Christmas Open House & Pet Gala from 9am – 6pm. Pet and family photos with Santa are from 10am – 4pm. Just $10 per 4 x 6 photo in a Holiday frame, printed while you wait. Proceeds will benefit Best Buddies Pet Pantry families & pets this Holiday season. You can also enter to win gift baskets – there will be sales and refreshments too! ** No problem if your dog is not “animal friendly”. Photo area can be cleared for a private sitting with Santa

A Service Dog For Our HERO

Come out for a great cause and make an awesome sign, have fun, and help Mighty Michael get his service dog!!! Cost is $60, plus tax. Proceeds go to the Fogus family to help with the expense of getting a service dog for their son, Michael. Registration must be completed and paid for to hold your seat. Mighty Michael 10, 2x Brain Cancer Survivor ServiceDogFundraiser

Little Michael needs our help!!! Michael is a 2x Brain Cancer Survivor and desperately needs a service dog to help him with his everyday struggles. He is only 10 years old, a student at Jefferson Elementary and has a long road in front of him. This life saving dog will cost 18,000!!!!!! Will you help him reach this goal??? *Hammond Schoops will be donating 10% of ALL DAY sales to Mighty Michaels Fund. So come out to eat and enjoy some good food while helping out for a great cause!!!! *Come meet Might Michael from 4-8!!! *Spiderman will be making an appearance for this event!!! *(We will also have shirts, bracelets, and baked goods for sale, along with a 50/50 and other Raffles. *Those proceeds will go directly to the Michael* ) Here is Michael’s story…. Michael was only 9 months old when he was diagnosed with an apple sized brain tumor on his cerebellum called Medulloblastoma. He immediately underwent multiple brain surgeries, started intense chemotherapy, and finished his last round with Stem Cell Transplant & Rescue. It was supposed to be a 6 month treatment plan, he was not that lucky. In his life he has had to endure a total of 15 brain surgeries, (tumor resections and 5 1/2 shunt replacements.) 15 surgeries on other parts of his body, 12 rounds of chemotherapy, 31 rounds of proton beam radiation, cysts in his brain, stroke, numerous central lines, lung infections, lung biopsy, abscess in his ureter, stint placement/removal, extreme PTSD, severe oral aversion, g-tube placement and dependence, developmentally delayed, speech delay, hearing loss, cataracts in both eyes, difficulty growing, optic nerve atrophy, blind in one eye, and partial blindness in the other eye just to name a few of his current battles and accomplishments. On October 1, 2013 Michael threw away his last bag of chemotherapy and finished treatment. On October 15, 2013 his MRI scan came back clear and he has been in remission ever since. Michael is now 10years old and We are raising this money so Michael can receive a MEDICALLY TRAINED & CERTIFIED SERVICE DOG. To ease his PTSD, and Anxiety, to prevent falls, to assist with vision, and to help him with his everyday life. Michael is our HERO, will you help be his?

Get you pup’s or kitty’s photo taken with Santa set in a fantastic recreation of “A Christmas Story.” If you’ve never been to the Indiana Welcome Center at Christmastime, bring out the entire family to see their phenomenal display celebrating the classic movie. A portion of all proceeds will go to the rescue ABRA! Also come meet some adoptables!

Wag Your Tail Wednesdays

Wed 4 PM · Along the South Shore · Hammond, Indiana

The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority will once again hold Wag Your Tail Wednesdays in conjunction with the A Christmas Story Comes Home exhibit. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21; Nov. 28; Dec. 12; Dec. 19, well-behaved pets are invited to have their picture taken with Santa atop Santa’s Mountain. This unique opportunity is offered for $6 per photo. A portion of the proceeds from each pet photo will be donated to local pet rescues. Participants are also encouraged to bring in donations for the local rescue. Families without pets are also invited to have their photo taken with Santa. In addition to Wag your Tail Wednesdays, Santa will be available for photos leading up to Christmas. Santa will visit the Indiana Welcome Center Saturdays and Sundays from Thanksgiving to Christmas from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Santa will also be available for photos on Friday, Nov. 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Learn more about events, Santa hours and the exhibit at www.southshorecva.com/achristmasstory
