Humane Society NWI Annual Fundraiser: Soundz Of Santana

SOUNDZ OF SANTANA will bring the danceable and upbeat music of Carlos Santana to life on this night as Tom Lounges’ Entertainment presents its annual concert fundraiser at the historic Memorial Opera House to benefit The Humane Society of Northwest Indiana. Special Guest for this event will be an acoustic performance by the popular Northwest Indiana group, OVER / UNDER. SOUNDZ OF SANTANA is the original Santana Chicagoland tribute act and have headlined festivals and concert halls for many years. Music from throughout colorful career of Carlos Santana and his self-named band will be performed by this veteran tribute ensemble, featuring the outstanding guitar work of DAVID SANCHEZ. The Humane Society of Northwest Indiana is a 501-3c non-profit animal rescue based in the Miller Beach neighborhood of Gary, Indiana, that finds forever homes for homeless critters in its care, and also helps animals that are victims of abuse.

Meet the Animals

Come out and interact with our farm animals at Sunset Hill Farm County Park. Their caretakers and our park naturalists will be on hand to answer questions and families can feed and pet the animals. Our animals include ponies, goats, ducks, bunnies, chickens, turkeys, and sheep. This program is free; registration is NOT required. Meet at the animal barns at Sunset Hill. A family hike also takes place from 11-11:45 for those who would like to participate

Wine, Beer, and Spirits Tasting benefiting LakeShore Paws

We will be the benefactors of Trail Inn Liquors and Triangle Liquors 25th Annual Charity Wine, Beer, and Spirits Event. The event starts at 6pm at the Old Town Banquette Center in Valparaiso. There will be over 200 wine, beer, and spirits to taste as well as appetizers, a silent auction, and a live auction. All proceeds will benefit Lakeshore PAWS. Tickets can be purchased for $40 ahead of time at Lakeshore PAWS, Century 21 Alliance Group, Trail Inn Liquors, and Triangle Liquors.

Dunes Project Owlnet: Behind the Scenes

It’s a special night behind the scenes at the Indiana Dunes owl banding station! Join us for a special behind the scenes look at the owl banding at the Indiana Audubon’s Dunes Project Owlnet Station. Registered participants will get to meet before the nets are put up to learn about the program and assist with net set up. Participants will perform hourly net checks with staff and volunteers and get a chance to see owls up close before they are banded. Head lamps and other supplies provided. Participants may wish to bring their own dinner and snacks, as nearby restaurants are several miles away. Due to the nature of the program, owls can never be guaranteed on any particular night. This special behind the scenes night is separate from the general banding demonstrations and includes a special donation that helps with owl banding operations. In 2018 participants can choose from one of the following dates to participate:

November 4 and November 9- The program begins at the Indiana Dunes State Park Nature Center at 5pm, 4pm local time). Participants may stay through the entire evening banding or leave anytime. A $49 program fee is invoiced to registered participants before the event. Refunds will be made if weather is too inclement for banding ,with options to attend another scheduled night. We ask that youth participants be 8 years of age and older to participate. Behind the Scenes nights are limited to 6 participants nightly. To register or for questions, email station coordinator, Brad Bumgardner at bbumgardner@indianaaudubon.org. Note this is a different program from the free banding demonstrations viewable each Thursday-Sunday during the owl banding season.

General admission starts at 6:00 pm, VIP entrance starts at 5:00. The VIP ticket upgrades you to early seating, early auction bidding, select beer for your tasting only, first at the buffet, first choices at the gourmet bake sale, swag bag, keepsake gift and more!! As one of our guests, you will enjoy an amazing evening under the stars (inside event) with over 300 like-minded animal friends. Start the night off right with unlimited complimentary craft beer & wine tastings, followed by music, silent auction, gourmet bake sale and our guests will also have the option of a cash bar. The meal will include fresh crisp salad, warm soft breadsticks, options of either spaghetti or fettucine pasta. The sauces will feature a marinara, alfredo, or meat sauce plus choose an add on meat of grilled chicken, meatballs or italian sausage. We are also looking into gluten free options for you! The dress is semi-casual and our night is for Humans Only! Tickets are EXTREMELY limited, and we will not be selling tickets at the door. Don’t let pro-cat-ination get in your way of missing out. We sell out early every year and anticipate selling out even early this year. Each year funds generated from this event support Feline Community Network, a non-profit cat rescue, and rehabilitation center now in its 2nd year of saving lives! Public Pet Microchip Event

Sat 3 PM · Lakeshore PAWS · Valparaiso, Indiana

Microchipping gives your pets the best chance of finding their way back home to you. We use 24PetWatch microchips coupled with their pet recovery network to ensure that each pet that we adopt out has the best chance of finding his/her way back to their furever family. We are offering a low-cost microchip clinic for dogs and cats. This event is open to the public and will be held at Lakeshore PAWS (4611 Evans Ave, Valparaiso, IN 46383) from 3:00pm – 6:00pm. This clinic will be on a walk in basis — no appointment necessary. Each pet will have a microchip placed by a registered vet for $15 each and no registration fee. Again, this is open to the public and is for dogs and cats alike. We do ask that, if you bring your feline friends, you do so in a cat carrier.

Pets for Vets – Veteran Program

As a way to thank the military members that are currently serving or have served our country, Lakeshore PAWS has put into place a Pets for Vets Program. We have asked 10 local businesses to sponsor the adoption fees for 30 US Veterans. The program will start at 10:00am on Sunday November 11th and will run through the end of 2018 or until 30 Veterans have adopted a dog through us. To submit an application, you will need to come into our adoption center. For more details, you may call our office at 219-476-7297 (umm, just gotta say that I love this one!!)

Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St., Crown Point 
9 am (8:00 am sign-in) Pets and other animals are sometimes forgotten during the holidays.  Give Thanks for the pets in your life by helping us support animal related causes.  Friendly pets that do well with both people and other animals are welcome but will not be permitted inside the building.  So, please plan accordingly.

Your Run/Walk Entry Fee Includes:

  • Hosted by 93.9  LITE’s Robin Rock!
  • Timed race with awards
  • DJ Music and snacks after
  • Pets to adopt at the event
  • Vote for the Local animal cause you wish to support
  • Friendly pets on leash welcome outside at event.

Help animals in need!    Please consider bringing pet supplies and food to be donated to local rescues, shelters & animal organizations including:

  • Halos & Hoovesoffers lessons to any student wanting to learn to ride horses. They specialize in therapy lessons for patients with Cystic Fibrosis to promote health and wellness.

The COURSE:  A timed or non-timed 5K/2K Run/Walk inside the historic Fairgrounds.

Cost: $20 for adults, $15 for kids.  $30 on event day.  Shirts extra $15 not included in entry fee & need to be ordered by November 8th.  A limited number of shirts may be available on event day at $15 (not included in entry fee).   Kids under 3 are free.  Strollers are welcome.  All sales are final.  No refunds or substitutions.  Shirts not claimed at race will be re-sold after the race.

Be a Lifesaver and join us for this fundraiser for the Humane Society of Hobart Inc. Check-in begins at 6 PM at the Hobart Art Theatre with live music from 7-10:30 PM featuring Working Class Zero followed by the region’s premier Zep tribute band KASHMIR!
